Exploring Thymosin-ɑ1 as a Novel Immunoregulator for the Prevention of Pancreatic Beta Cell Destruction and Treatment of Type I DiabetesKelsea Eichler is a Biology major with a concentration in Medical Sciences. During her time at SEU, she has actively engaged in research, gained clinical experience working at Lakeland Regional, and dedicated significant time to volunteer service. She has also participated in medical mission trips, further expanding her hands-on experience in healthcare. Upon graduation, Kelsea will continue her studies in the Physician Assistant Program at Nova Southeastern University.

"Plenty of Heart and Plenty of Hope”: An Analysis of Social and Historical Implications in Post-WWII Western Musical FilmsKaty Lister is a Communication major with a love of film. During her time at SEU, she has served as a teaching assistant and has been actively involved on campus. She has worked as the campus tour guide coordinator with Admission and has been a member and co-captain of Unpland Improv. This year, Katy was honored to represent SEU as the Homecoming Queen and she is a dedicated member of the Honors Leadership Team, where she contributes to fostering community and leadership among her peers.

Go and Tell - A Storytelling Guide for MissionsRynna Burgbacher is a Multimedia Journalism major with a passion for storytelling shaped by her upbringing across Tonga, Costa Rica, and Panama as a missionary kid. Her experiences have fostered a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and the impact of authentic narratives. She currently serves as the Lead Videographer for SEU’s internal marketing team and has traveled internationally for missions in Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, and Norway.

Memory Collection Initiatives and Preserving Digital HistoryElla Collins is a Graphic Design major with a minor in Film. Throughout her time at SEU, she has served as an associate registrar and a student worker in the Steelman Library where she has created numerous curriculum videos. A talented artist, several of her original works are featured in the library, showcasing her creative contributions to the campus community. She has collaborated with the Polk County Historical Museum with two poetry posters. Ella plans to take a gap year directly after graduation to focus on her art.

An Examination of Karl Barth's Critique of Natural Theology: The Epistemological Shift Post-SalvationLuke Pelkey is a Ministerial Leadership major with a concentration in Christian Ministry. He has been actively involved on campus through the student theology club, SEU preaching team, intramural sports, SGA Senate, and Residence Life, contributing to both the spiritual and community life of the university.

Supporting the Mental Health of Pastors Through Dimensions of WellnessEllie Baxter is a Multidisciplinary Studies major with a minor in Digital Design. Ellie was a Resident Assistant for two years and a Delight Ministries leader on campus. Over the past three years, she has enjoyed building community and growing spiritually at SEU. Post-graduation, she plans to do a ministry internship, then pursue an MBA back home in Cincinnati.

Effects of Screen Time on the Language Development of American Children born 2018-2023Madison Boss plans to pursue my Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology upon graduation. She currently serves as the president of SEU’s National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA).

He is a teaching assistant for anatomy, organic chemistry, and biochemistry labs, and competes as a student-athlete on SEU’s cross country and track & field teams. Luke is passionate about science, service, and helping others. Upon graduation, he plans to attend medical school to become a physician.
Plan Z: Analyzing Goal Setting Trends in Generation ZMadelyn Cook is an Accounting major with a minor in Graphic Design. Throughout her time at SEU, she has served as a student leader project manager for the Department of Spiritual Formation, working with a team of graphic designers to develop creative projects for campus chapels. A dedicated student, she maintains a strong academic record and a passion for learning. Looking ahead, she aspires to apply her knowledge and skills to a successful career in business while making a meaningful impact on those around her.
The Role of Self-Efficacy in the Academic Success of Hispanic Immigrant College Students in the United States: An Extended Literature ReviewRaúl is a has been a student leader and short-term missionary during his time at SEU. Raúl has served as a Resident Assistant and Academic Mentor for the LINK Program, roles through which he has supported student growth both academically and personally. He has led three mission trips and participated in two others through SEU Missions, serving in regions including Guanajuato, Mexico; Medellín, Colombia—his hometown; the U.S.-Mexico border; and twice in Iceland. Raúl’s heart for missions is deeply rooted in the Great Commission, driving him to reach people in spiritually and physically challenging environments. His mission work reflects a commitment to bringing the hope of the Gospel to the ends of the Earth, regardless of the cost. He plans to pursue missionary training with Overland Missions and aims to become a full-time missionary with the organization. Alongside his ministry work, Raúl is passionate about counseling and believes in the power of the Gospel to bring healing and transformation to the emotionally broken. His part-time job at the Publix Deli, known for its beloved “Pub Subs,” has become more than a job—it’s a space of everyday ministry, where he seeks to be a light and blessing to coworkers and customers alike.
Analyzing the Methods and Effects of Implementing Multiple Service Styles in the ChurchChloe Dillman is a Commercial Music major. Throughout her time at SEU, she has worked in Human Resources at MidFlorida Credit Union and on campus in the mailroom. She has been an active member of SEU Students for Life, participating in annual trips to Washington, D.C., and serving with the YoungLives teen mom group. Additionally, she was involved with SEU Worship and volunteers at Family Worship Center as a worship team member and youth leader. After graduation, Chloe plans to begin full-time work, teach piano lessons part-time, and start graduate school in 2026.
AI and Business: An Analysis on the Effects of Artificial Intelligence on the Job Market and the Way We Do BusinessGarrett Earle is pursuing a double major in Business Management and Marketing. He is well-versed in coding and scripting, with experience in C#, Microsoft Visual Basic, as well as JavaScript. With this, he has been operating an online video game programming business throughout his time at SEU. Garrett has earned a certification in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel and is additionally working towards Six Sigma and AutoCAD certifications as well. After graduating, he has plans to either work for his family’s AutoCAD manufacturing business, or pursuing a career in marketing in his hometown of Jacksonville.

Examining the Effect of Climate Change Denialism in American Christianity on International Climate PolicyHope Firebaugh is a Film Production major who wants to tell stories that matter. She has served on the Film Leadership Team, where she played an active role in the life of the communication department. During her time at SEU, she has crewed more than 30 short films. She is passionate about combating climate change denialism in the American church, and her journey in this area led her to attend COP29, the UN climate change conference, in Azerbaijan last year. She is excited to attend Florida State University in pursuit of an MFA with a producing for film specialty in the fall.
Nursing Competency to Care for Patients with Intellectual DisabilitiesSarah Fulton is a nursing major here at SEU. Throughout her time at SEU, she has served as a Resident Assistant and spent the past two years serving as a chapel producer in our Department of Spiritual Formation. Sarah went on and led mission trips through SEU Missions to Detroit, St. Croix and Belize.She also spent two years working at Pathways School of Excellence on campus. She has completed over 200 clinical nursing hours and spent the last year working at Lakeland Regional Hospital as a Nurse Intern. After graduation, Sarah will be working as a cardiovascular nurse at Lakeland Regional Hospital and hopes to pursue a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education.
The Theological Implications of Free Will: A Philosophical Look into the Need for a Divine Source of GroundingMorris Heiskell is a passionate and driven individual with a heart for ministry and a deep commitment to theological education. Starting college as a junior, he is graduating at the age of 19, a testament to his strong work ethic and academic dedication. From a young age, he was made aware of God's calling on his life and has since devoted himself to serving the church in any way possible. Whether through teaching, discipleship, or simply lending a helping hand, he has always sought to honor that calling with humility and dedication.
After graduation, Morris is stepping into his role as a youth pastor, embracing the opportunity to guide and mentor the next generation in their faith. He believes that youth ministry is a vital part of the church, equipping young believers to grow in their relationship with Christ and preparing them to be lifelong disciples. Looking ahead, Morris is committed to deepening his theological understanding, with plans to pursue a Master of Divinity and eventually a PhD in theology. His goal is to integrate academic study with practical ministry, using his education to strengthen the church and contribute to the field of theological scholarship.

Terrence Malick: Beyond Words
How do the philosophical differences between China and the United States impact business leadership and communication?Cameron Kistner is a graduating International Business major. During his time at SEU, he has been involved with the Department of Spiritual Formation, SEU Worship, SEU Creative, intramurals, and the Admissions Department. Off-campus, he has been immersed in the local church and his love for travel led him to spend a semester abroad in Oxford, England. All of these experiences have grown him to be an experienced leader and have contributed to his thesis work.
Analyzing Data that Uncovers the Factors Driving the Cultural Shift between Specialization and GeneralizationJacob was the first Lateral Admissions student to join the School of Honors. During his time at SEU, he served as a Resident Assistant for Destino Hall, President of Students for Life, Alto Saxophone Section Leader for the Athletics Pep Band, and represented the School of Honors on SGA. In addition to his leadership roles, he worked as a student supervisor at Chick-fil-A. Upon graduation, Jacob will return to the Florida Panhandle to join Ivanco Inc. as a Sales Associate, operating in a marketing capacity.
We Create Because We Are Made in the Image of the Creator & How this Philosophy Affects our WorkplaceSarah McDaniel is a God-fearing woman who wishes to use her creativity to bring others towards Him. She has had a deep-rooted passion for art and film ever since she was a child, and dreams of working in the creative department at big time studios. Some of her greatest projects include illustrating some Disney Jr's Spidey and His Amazing Friends books through Premise Entertainment, working behind the scenes for 30+ SEU -affiliated films, and having the honor of serving under the Film Leadership department.
Leadership and Followership in AthleticsAva Palmer is an Organizational Leadership major with a minor in Family Ministry. Throughout her time at SEU, she has served as a resident assistant in Esperanza, participated in the Honors program, and been actively involved in intramural sports. Passionate about leadership development and camp ministry, she feels called to foster community and spiritual growth. This passion has been shaped by her family and church, with her father’s role as a youth minister inspiring her path. She plans to pursue a Master’s in Organizational Leadership at SEU while gaining leadership experience as a graduate assistant. Long-term, she hopes to integrate her leadership skills and ministry background into work that fosters community, discipleship, and personal growth.
Set Piece Inefficiency in Football: An Investigation of Corner Kicks in the 2024/25 English Premier LeagueJoshua Pekari is a Sport Management major with a minor in Athletic Coaching. He is from Peabody, Massachusetts, and plans to work in the sports industry as a coach in his local area. His passion is in youth sports, and has had several years of experience as a youth football coach. Upon completion of his thesis and graduation, Josh is taking an internship opportunity coaching youth football in Cape Town, South Africa. He plans on achieving his United States Soccer Federation and UEFA coaching licenses to pursue a career in coaching football at the professional level before opening his own academy for underprivileged youth.

Designed for Distraction: The Impact of Digital Media on Problematic Use Behaviors and Addiction Risk for Individuals with ADHDMelina will be graduating with a degree in Psychology with a minor in Music and is dedicated to serving those around her and spreading the love of Christ. Throughout her time at SEU, Melina has been a Resident Assistant in Valencia Hall as well as a Tour Guide and Ambassador with the Admissions department. She has served as the Treasurer of Psi Chi and has gone on three mission trips with SEU to Peru, Cuba, and Jamaica. With a passion for youth ministry and worship, Melina is also heavily involved with her home church as the worship leader and an assistant teacher with the children’s program. Taking the next step after graduation, Melina will be attending the University of South Florida this fall to study Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation, following her calling to work with young people as a Christian counselor in the Tampa Bay area.
Aphantasia and Religion: Exploring the Impact of Imageless Cognition on Spiritual ExperienceRJ Pletcher is a senior psychology major at Southeastern University. Her academic life has been shaped by a passion for multidisciplinary research, in particular, in the areas of "over-diagnosis of mental disorders", "the trend of mental illness" and "the impact of aphantasia on spirituality and creativity". RJ has been researching aphantasia in her Honors research, attempting to uncover new findings that advance our knowledge of its impact on religion. Her work stretches across the perspectives of psychologists, neuroscientists, and theologians, emphasizing the applicability of religious acceptance and imagination. In addition to her academic interests, RJ has been consistently working in research projects and teams that have nurtured their analysis skills in research, communication, and teamwork. She did study abroad in Oxford last semester and collaborated with the psychologists who execute and discovered research about aphantasia. She learned extensively from her international experience and her paper now lays the groundwork for deeper research about the topic. After graduation, RJ plans to go on to graduate school for her Ph.D. in psychology and counseling. She is honored to participate in the Interchange and to be able to present her research to the Honors community and open up useful discussion about aphantasia and its impact on religion.
The Most Magical Place on Earth: Exploring the Magic of Walt Disney World Through Emotional Connections and Imagineered ExperiencesMorgan Reynolds is graduating from SEU with a degree in Christian Ministry and as a member of the Alpha Chi honors society. Throughout her time at SEU, she served as a senator for the Barnett College of Ministry and Theology and spent a year as the Creative Director for the SEU Student Theology Club. She is actively involved in church leadership, serving in the young adult ministry, campus operations, and messaging and marketing. She plans to pursue a Master of Arts in Ministerial Leadership at Southeastern University in the fall of 2025. Her ultimate goal is to become an ordained pastor.
The Parables of Jesus Through The Eyes of an AccountantHannah Rickenberg is graduating summa cum laude with an accounting degree. During her time at SEU, she received the Florida Institute of CPA’s Scholarship award and served as the Campus Ambassador for Becker CPA Prep. Hannah is also completing a six-hour internship with a top 8 accounting firm where she is working in not-for-profit tax preparation and client communication. She plans to remain in public accounting following graduation. In fact, her career achievement has already begun as she has recently passed the first of the four part CPA exam. While diligently pursuing this difficult exam and prestigious license, she has been active in her local church and with the female youth through American Heritage Girls. Recently, she helped plan and implement a statewide camp for over 600 young Christian girls and women from all across the state of Florida. Through this service and more, she has become the recipient of 8 Presidential Service Awards achieving over 3,000 service hours. She intends to continue this life of service both professionally and personally wherever God leads her.

Throughout her time at SEU, she has served as Student Body Vice President, overseeing Congress, the House, and the Senate to advocate for campus change. She has also been a Resident Assistant and a member of the Pastoral Team, leading the prayer and intercessory team. Committed to uplifting those who feel unseen or unvalued, she works full-time with Prison Fellowship as a Prospect Researcher for Corporations and Foundations. Looking ahead, she will pursue an MBA while serving as a Graduate Assistant for the Department of Spiritual Formation, with plans to attend law school and specialize in advocacy law to restore hope and dignity to marginalized communities.

Throughout her studies, she has fostered a passion for the intersection of technology, law, and human behavior. Engagement in university and community initiatives reflects a commitment to both learning and leadership. After earning her degree, plans include pursuing a master's in cybersecurity at Southeastern University, focusing on cyber defense, digital forensics, and threat intelligence. Career goals include serving as a Cybersecurity Analyst for the FBI and launching a cybersecurity incident response business to help organizations prevent and recover from cyberattacks. With technical expertise, analytical skills, and a strong ethical foundation, a lasting impact in the cybersecurity field remains the ultimate ambition.

Throughout her time at SEU, she has dedicated most of her time to her studies, as well as volunteering at health services. She has also participated in medical missions trips, furthering her love for the medical field. After graduation, she plans to attend a Radiation Therapy Program.
Epigenetics and Eternal LifeAnnalisse is a dedicated biochemistry major at Southeastern University, where she has excelled in her academic pursuits over the past three years. Throughout her time at SEU, Annalisse has been actively involved in the university community, working at Steelman Library for nearly three years. Upon their graduation in April, Annalisse and her fiancé will be getting married. Looking ahead, Annalisse plans to pursue a master's degree in pharmaceutical chemistry in the fall.
Targeting Malaria using RTS,S/AS01 Liposome Based Therapy in Combination with Cryptolepis SanguinolentaMichelle Villacorta is a dedicated student with a passion for healthcare and community service. She began her academic journey at 15 and has since gained valuable experience in the medical field through volunteer work at Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine, where she assisted with patient intake and pharmacy coordination. She also contributed to the Southeastern University International Student Department, organizing events to support international students. Additionally, she shadowed medical professionals in Peru, assisting in Gastroenterology and Traumatology procedures. Beyond healthcare, she has served at Access Church and worked as an Executive Assistant, managing scheduling and communications. A consistent Dean’s List honoree, she plans to pursue a master's degree to become a certified anesthesiologist assistant.
Supporting College Students' Mental Health Through Occupational TherapyMallory Watts is a softball student-athlete majoring in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology. She tutors students at ACE in science classes and has been on the Dean’s list every semester of attendance at SEU. Mallory is an All-Sun Conference Academic Honoree and an Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete. She will be pursuing a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.
The Correlation Between Parental Relationship and Relationship With GodHunter Whittle is a passionate communicator and leader committed to teaching and mentoring. His journey is driven by his biblical values of love, humility, and service, which guide his desire to make a positive impact in the spiritual lives of others. With skills in effective communication and social media management of an account with over 164,000 followers, he aims to connect and engage communities in his generation while fostering growth and understanding. He has a deep passion for learning and teaching, particularly for the Bible and theology, evidenced by over 10 years of learning, studying, and teaching theology and the Bible. While at Southeastern, Hunter loved being a member of the Department of Spiritual Formation for 3 years, serving in various roles, his favorite being a pastoral team member. While on the pastoral team, Hunter published devotional plans for YouVersion, wrote theological booklets for those new to the faith, shared teachings for both his team and chapels and frequently mentored students. Having graduated with a 4.0, Hunter now seeks to continue his academic endeavors, pursuing a Master of Divinity through a 2 year program at NorthPlace School of Ministry in Dallas, Texas as a resident and staff member in the upcoming fall.
The Analysis of Non-Governmental Operations Based in Quito, EcuadorHannah has been at Southeastern University for the past two years, pursuing a degree in International Business. This time spent has been a period of both academic and spiritual growth. She has loved being part of the community here at SEU and has served in the admissions department and chapel creative team. In addition to this, she is a member of the School of Honors and has received Dean’s List recognition. Through SEU, she got involved with missional work and went on a 5 week mission trip sharing the love of Jesus in various cities in Japan. This led into her previous semester where she had the opportunity to study abroad in Quito, Ecuador, in what she considers an unforgettable experience. It presented the chance to better understand new cultures which ultimately sparked interest for post-graduation plans. Although Hannah is not currently set in a specific path, she plans to find a career in international business which will align with her passion for both culture and travelling. As she closes this chapter at Southeastern, she is expectant in the plans that God has in store for her life.
Sons of God and the Divine Council: The Reception of Genesis 6:1–4 from Second Temple Judaism through New Testament ThoughtBenjamin Williams is a dedicated student and aspiring social worker with a passion for integrating Christian theology, cultural restoration, and practical skills into a holistic model of healing. He is actively involved with Anchor House Ministries, facilitating service days and mentoring youth, while also engaging in his local community. His vision for social work focuses on restoration, helping individuals reconnect with tradition, community, and meaningful labor. Particularly interested in the role of hands-on trades, local knowledge, and spiritual rhythms in healing, he seeks to develop a model of social work that combines classical education, Christian theology, and embodied practices such as craftsmanship, nature study, and liturgical living. He plans to pursue a Master of Social Work to further this mission.

Additional Honors Scholars

During his time at SEU, Ben has been deeply engaged in campus life through various leadership and service roles. He is a double major in Finance and Marketing and has served as a Resident Assistant in Destino Hall for two years, where he fostered community and provided support for residents. In addition, he worked in the Admissions Office as a Lead Tour Guide and a Visits & Events Student Worker, helping to coordinate campus visits and large-scale events for prospective students. This year, Ben serves as the Student Body President, leading the Student Government Association in advocating for and representing the student body. Ben will continue his education by pursuing an MBA while serving as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of the President.
Sophia Musacchio is a Secondary Biology Education major. Due to her passion for science and learning, Sophia took more science courses than necessary for her major because she enjoys learning about God’s creation and finding ways to share how unique His design is. During Sophia’s time at SEU, she has had the opportunity to tutor peers and high school students, work at a homeschool co-op teaching science to students grades 6th through 12th, and volunteer at the Lakeland Regional clinic on SEU’s campus. Sophia also was able to sing Mozart’s Coronation Mass at Carnegie Hall in New York City with SEU’s Chamber Singers. After graduation in December 2025, Sophia plans to pursue her master's degree here at SEU to become more prepared for teaching and learning before she becomes a full-time teacher. She also hopes to be able to utilize her singing skills in some manner, as she feels that God will open doors for her to honor Him with her voice. Sophia is excited to see where God leads her, as He has been faithful to show her glimpses of His beautiful mind.
